AGO beat Virtus.pro to qualify for WESG 2018 World Finals

AGO secured a 2-0 victory (Overpass 16-10, Mirage 25-22) over the Virtus.pro lineup which ceased competition earlier this week, qualifying for the $890,000 WESG 2018 World Finals.

The series started on Overpass with AGO picking up the CT pistol on their map pick. However, a force buy and Michał "⁠MICHU⁠" Müller on the AK-47 got Virtus.pro on the board quickly, only for them to lose the next round to a force buy from their opponents. AGO took a 3-1 lead before Virtus.pro struck back with three in a row, but from that point onward, AGO was the better looking team on the server. Damian "⁠Furlan⁠" Kislowski and co. finished the half 9-6 and added another pistol to their name to advance their lead.

Filip "⁠NEO⁠" Kubski's side grabbed a couple of gun rounds to bring the score back to 13-9, but Dominik "⁠GruBy⁠" Swiderski stopped their streak with a triple kill, securing two with the CZ-75 and one with an M4A4 to get AGO on the verge of victory on Overpass. NEO held strong on the A site with an AUG hat-trick to keep his team alive a bit longer, but Virtus.pro ultimately fell 16-10, moving to Mirage.

Mirage also had a back-and-forth start, with Virtus.pro taking the early lead after winning a force buy, but then losing the hold of things as they fumbled in an anti-eco at 4-1. That is where AGO turned it around, and proceeded to win the next six rounds, with some key clutches going their way such as the 1v3 from GruBy in round 10. (7-4)

Virtus.pro managed to grab two more rounds before the end of the half, but AGO switched to the T side with a comfortable, 9-6 lead. Michał "⁠snatchie⁠" Rudzki was the man of the hour in the pistol, finding two USP-S headshots while defending A, off the back of which Virtus.pro equalized the score at 9-9. snatchie's quad kill in round 21 was key to Virtus.pro grabbing a foothold in the match and losing that round forced AGO to eco, but they still managed to win the next round with just pistols and set themselves up for a win on Mirage.

Virtus.pro's next round with full equipment came as they were trailing 14-11, but AGO caught them off guard with a quick A push and secured match point, but couldn't close it out as NEO's 1v2 clutch proved key for his team to get into overtime. Virtus.pro started well in the added rounds, but AGO bounced back to force overtime number two. Not even that was enough to decide the winner, but AGO finally closed it out OT3, 25-22. With a 2-0 victory in the series, AGO qualified for the WESG 2018 World Finals, the $890,000 tournament which will take place next year.
